Faith Promise

Wheatland Salem Church first invests in prayer and then invests money in global partnerships.

Faith Promise is NOT:

  • A pledge
  • A fundraiser
  • A contribution

Faith Promise IS:

  • My declaration of partnership in the mission of God
  • My expression of availability for God's purposes
  • My responsibility as a manager of the financial resources God provides me with

Faith Promise is a prayer—a very particular kind of prayer:

“Lord what amount of money would you give through me in 2010 for the purposes of local and global mission that you would not give to me for my own needs?”

We believe God will answer that prayer specifically.

Our Faith Promise Commitments are simple, written expectations of the amount we expect God to provide. We total the sum of these amounts and all of us are invited to pray for God to provide this amount in the year ahead. Faith Promise Cards (which are provided in worship) are returned to each person/family that completes one. We keep a record of the total amount of the promises, but no record of who has promised what. There will be no reminder to “keep up with your commitment”. This is a prayer. It is between each person/family and God.

Once we begin to pray in this way, our eyes are open for God’s provision of “extra money”. Faithfully we bring it as an offering for the direct global partnerships of our church.  And we rejoice as the mission goes forward with strength and joy!
